My name is Andy Castle and I live in Bellevue WA. I have been a non-smoker for over a year now and I haven't looked back. It took me an hour to become a non-smoker. I made the appointment and had one cigarette on the way in and that was the last one I had. After that first session, that was it. I left and had a half a pack of cigarettes in my truck and gave them away to a guy at work.
I have noticed a change in how I look. I've been going to the gym and just look better in general. I feel better about myself and that comes across when people look at me. I no longer smell bad from the cigarette smoke and I’m not out of breath at work anymore. I haven't had to stop and take a break like I used to. It’s helped a lot breathing wise.
It had gotten to the point where it was easier to not smoke than to smoke. I remember having to stand 25 feet away from the building and hoping nobody would notice me. Now I don’t have to worry about the looks I would get from the passerbys who would look at me as if to say “how could you pollute my air”. I used to smoke a pack a day for 15 years. I was 21 when I started smoking. My father had smoked so it wasn't something new to my environment.
I heard about Positive Changes Hypnosis through a newspaper advertisement. I had cut it out and had it on the bulletin board for over a year before I joined the program. I had made the initial consultation and they told me it would work for me. It was over a year before I came back and started the program. I had thought long and hard about it and I finally decided that this was something I needed to do.
That was it. I talked to some other hypnotists who said for some people they might smoke a few more cigarettes after their first session, but for me that was it. I think it's because I was ready to quit. I wanted to quit. I know I couldn't have done it without Positive Changes because I tried. I tried the patch, which irritated my skin, Zyban, which made me in a good mood and smoking, and the gum which didn't taste real well. I'd spit it out and have a cigarette. All of those were gradual, but for me it has to be all or nothing.
It was something that was part of my life but now when someone walks by who smokes, I'm glad I don't smell like that anymore. I feel in control now and I don't have urges. I can be around people who smoke and it doesn't bother me. Hypnosis pretty much eliminated the urges and cravings. I know I can have one but that's just counterproductive to what I'm trying to do.
The most important benefit that I've received from Positive Changes is that I am no longer a smoker and that I'm going to be around to watch my son grow up. Positive Changes helped me do that. I wanted to make a change and I knew I couldn't do it on my own. That's what you guys are here for. I would recommend Positive Changes to others who want to stop smoking. Friends of mine have noticed that I'm not as grumpy in the morning anymore and I'm able to deal with stress better. They asked me what I did and I told them about Positive Changes Hypnosis. I am confident that I am a non-smoker for good.
