Cathy Triacheff Stopped Smoking for Good!

My name is Cathy Triacheff. I live in Columbus Ohio where I own my own residential cleaning business. I started smoking when I was 29 years old. I was dating a man who smoked and picked up the habit from him. After that relationship, I kept smoking because I loved to smoke. Smoking was a crutch that I used for managing the stress in my life. If I was happy, I smoked. If I was upset, I smoked. If I was stressed, I smoked. I was self medicating-only my plan wasn't working.

I used to smoke at least a pack of cigarettes a day. I wasn't going to stop, didn't want to stop, even after watching my father die from smoking-related complications and asbestosis. I finally got my wake-up call when I was diagnosed with COPD and emphysema. I was losing control of my life. I knew that medically I could not continue to smoke, even though I really didn't want to stop.
